The accused, Ubungo councillor Boniface Jacob, watchman Hemed Sebula and administrative officer Benson Mramba appeared before resident magistrate Warialwande Lema.
They denied the charges and were remanded after prosecution asked for more time to verify documents produced by their sureties as part of bail conditions.
Prosecution led by state attorney Janeth Kitali alleged that on March 7 this year at the Chadema headquarters in Ufipa Street in Kinondoni Municipality, the accused injured Khalid Kagenzi on different parts of his body.
Prosecution further alleged that on the same day and place the accused jointly kidnapped Kagenzi and took him to River View Hotel at Sinza.
The three allegedly committed the offence contrary to Section 225 and 249 of the Penal Code Cap 16 RE 2002.
After reading the charges, prosecution informed the court that the investigation was incomplete and asked for another date for mention.
However, advocates for the accused Peter Kibatala assisted by John Mallya, asked the court to grant bail to their clients considering Section 148 of the Criminal Procedure Act, Cap 20 RE 2002 because the offence is bailable. Lema ordered each accused to secure two reliable sureties who will sign a bond of Sh10 million.
