Dar es Salaam. More than 200 students from 100 secondary schools are expected to showcase their technology and science innovations here on Wednesday and Thursday.
“The innovations are mainly focused on finding practical solutions to development challenges in health, agriculture and food security, communications, transportation, safety, energy, environment, education and social relations," Young Scientists Tanzania founder Gosbert Kamugisha told journalists at the weekend.
He noted that the best project would be awarded cash, medals, trophies, lab equipment and library refurbishment for a particular school.
Dr Kamugisha said leading students would be awarded university scholarships by Karimjee Jivanjee (KJF) Foundation to help them pursue science and technology courses at any local university.
KJF manager Devota Rubama explained that by recognising the importance of science, the foundation would be providing $100,000 annually.
