Dar es Salaam. In a move to promote workplace inclusivity and support working mothers, Airtel Tanzania has launched a dedicated nursing room at its headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
The initiative, unveiled in celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, underscores the company’s commitment to empowering working mothers by enabling them to balance their professional and personal responsibilities more effectively.
Speaking at the launch, Airtel Tanzania’s Managing Director, Charles Kamoto, emphasized the importance of corporate policies that prioritize employee well-being.
He stated that the nursing facility reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to create a gender-inclusive work environment where mothers do not have to choose between their careers and parenthood.
“One of our core values at Airtel Tanzania is to walk the talk. This nursing room is a reflection of our commitment to supporting women in the workplace, ensuring that Airtel Divas can thrive both professionally and personally without having to choose between work and motherhood,” he said.
Airtel Tanzania’s Human Resources Director, Ms Stella Kibacha, noted that the facility is designed to enhance the professional experience of working mothers by providing a comfortable and private space for nursing.
“A dedicated space like this allows working mothers to balance their responsibilities with dignity and ease. Supporting nursing mothers contributes to their well-being and enhances productivity,” Ms Kibacha said.
On her part, Airtel Tanzania’s Customer Experience Director, Ms. Adrianna Lyamba, highlighted the psychological benefits of the initiative, stating that the facility would ease the challenges of balancing career and parenthood.
“Parenthood should never be a barrier to career growth. This nursing room provides psychological peace, enabling working mothers to care for their infants while remaining productive,” she said.
Airtel Tanzania’s Supply Chain Director, Mr Daniel Akuffo, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the company’s broader vision of inclusivity and empowerment in the workplace.
“A supportive workplace fosters both professional and personal growth. When employees feel valued and supported, they are more engaged and productive, benefiting both individuals and the company,” he said.
