Moshi. Isaack Mallya, 72, brother to the Kilimanjaro Regional Chairman of the ruling CCM party, Patrick Boisafi, was found murdered outside his home at Umbwe Onana Village, Kibosho West Ward, Moshi District, Kilimanjaro Region.

His lifeless body, discovered early on December 2, 2024, bore multiple injuries inflicted by unidentified assailants.

Confirming the incident, Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Simon Maigwa said that investigations into the gruesome killing were underway. "The victim sustained a fatal head injury. We are working tirelessly to identify those responsible for this heinous act," Maigwa said, adding that a formal statement would be issued today (Tuesday, December 3, 2024).

Reacting to the tragedy, Patrick Boisafi expressed shock and heartbreak over the cruel manner in which his elder brother was killed. "This is deeply painful and inhumane. We trust the police to thoroughly investigate and ensure justice is served," Boisafi remarked.

He also recounted a previous incident where Mallya’s livestock were killed, hinting that it might have been an earlier attempt linked to this murder. "Perhaps the perpetrators had been planning this for some time but failed to execute their plans earlier," he said.

Describing his brother as a kind and respected figure in the community, Boisafi lamented the fear such acts instill, particularly during the festive season. "This is unacceptable and casts a dark shadow over our region, especially with family members and friends planning to travel here for the holidays."

A prominent businessman and relative of the deceased, Baraka Mallya, termed the incident as shocking and deeply distressing. "Isaack was a former businessman who later retired to his village, where he lived a peaceful life until this tragic event," he stated.

Echoing similar sentiments, a local activist, Vicky Massawe, decried the loss of a community pillar. "He was friendly and helpful to everyone. To find him murdered in such a cruel manner is heartbreaking," she said.

The body was reportedly found with severe injuries and bleeding profusely, leading residents to speculate on the intense suffering Mallya endured before his death.

Boisafi and other family members emphasized the need for swift justice, condemning the act as barbaric and urging authorities to ensure no such incident recurs. "Even if there were disputes, they could have been resolved peacefully. Nothing justifies taking a life," Boisafi noted, urging the community to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The police investigation continues, and further details are expected in the official briefing. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked fear and outrage across the region, as residents mourn the loss of a beloved elder.
