Capsized Mv Nyerere ferry now salvaged by over 96pc

Over 96 per cent of the MV Nyerere has been righted, as the process to pull the ferry up to the shore continues.

Dar es Salaam.  As the process of pulling the capsized ferry ashore is ongoing, it has been reported that 96 per cent of the MV Nyerere has been successfullyretrieved from the water.

The process started yesterday by officials from the Tanzania Electronic and Mechanical Agency (TAMESA) and Tanzania People's Defense Force (TPDF) and other volunteering rescuers.

The vessel, which capsized on September 20 was heading to Bugorora from Ukara. Reports show by yesterday, 228 bodies had been recovered.
