Dar es Salaam. The ruling party CCM has officially opened the application window for cadres and members aspiring to contest councillor, parliamentary, and representative positions in the October 2025 General Election.

The party announced that nomination forms for the positions would be available from May 1 to 15, 2025.

A public statement issued on Thursday, April 10, 2025, signed by the CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, Mr Amos Makalla, outlines the application procedures.

The statement says members intending to contest parliamentary or House of Representatives seats should collect and submit their forms to the CCM District Secretary.

The statement adds that those applying for Special Seats for women in Parliament or the House of Representatives through the Party’s Women’s Wing (UWT), as well as candidates representing special groups—such as NGOs, workers, academics, and persons with disabilities—should collect and return forms to the Regional UWT Secretary.

“Members contesting women’s Special Seats through the party’s Youth Wing (UVCCM) should obtain and submit their forms to the Regional UVCCM Secretary,” reads part of the statement.

Likewise, applicants for Special Seats via the Parents’ Wing are required to collect and return their forms to the Regional Parents’ Secretary.

For those aspiring to become Ward Councillors (on the Mainland) or Wadi Councillors (in Zanzibar), the statement says that nomination forms should be collected and returned to the respective Ward or Wadi CCM Secretary.

He further explained that candidates for women’s Special Seats for councillors should collect and return their forms to the UWT District Secretary in their respective areas.

Regarding the presidency, CCM has already concluded the nomination process, endorsing President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi as the presidential and running mate candidates for the Union, while Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi has been endorsed to seek a second term as President of Zanzibar.
