Under Tanzanian law, a presidential aspirant must secure endorsements from at least ten regions, eight from Mainland Tanzania and two from Zanzibar, before being formally cleared by the NEC.
Addressing residents of Iringa Municipality yesterday, Mr Mwalimu said the exercise formed part of Chaumma’s structured preparations to ensure full participation in the polls.
“We want to ensure there will be no legal obstacle standing in our way. Endorsements are a fundamental requirement, and we believe the people will entrust us with their support,” he said.
He explained that Iringa was deliberately chosen as the starting point because of its liberation history under Chief Mkwawa, describing the region’s people as reformists, hardworking and principled.
