What you need to know:

  • All Tanzanians have a responsibility to ensure they elect honest leaders who would prioritise the welfare of the people and the ability to manage development effectively.

Dar es Salaam. The CCM youth wing chairman, Mr Mohammed Ali Kawaida, said today’s local government elections shouldn’t be undermined, emphasising that the polls were the opportunity for individual Tanzanians, especially the youth, to demonstrate their commitment to achieve sustainable development.

In a public statement issued yesterday, Mr Kawaida said all Tanzanians have a responsibility to ensure they elect honest leaders who would prioritise the welfare of the people and the ability to manage development effectively.

He stressed the importance of electing capable leaders to bring development, saying that is the essence of democracy.

“There are various fundamental reasons why citizens should support CCM in this local government elections, including the issue of seeing economic success, strengthening the economy, and improving social welfare,” he said.

“CCM has implemented major strategic projects, including the SGR railway, the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Project (JNHPP), and the improvement of ports, all of which have created employment for Tanzanians and boosted the domestic economy,” he added.

He said the ruling party should also be supported due to its excellence in the provision of quality social services, including education and healthcare, for all following significant investments in the area.

"Historically, CCM is the best. Its success and policies focus on the welfare of every citizen. It has facilitated the provision of free education, healthcare, clean and safe water, and empowerment programmes for youth, women, and persons with disabilities, recognising the importance of these groups in national development," he said.

Mr Kawaida emphasized that by choosing CCM, which empowers citizens to improve their lives through actions and not just promises, Tanzanians will continue advancing these achievements.
