Coca-Cola celebrates Tanzania’s rich culinary heritage at Bakhresa Kitaa Fest in Dar es Salaam

Coca-Cola Tanzania launched the much-anticipated Kitaa Food Fest on Saturday, bringing residents of Manzese, Dar es Salaam, a vibrant celebration of Tanzania’s diverse and rich culinary heritage. The Bakhresa Kitaa Fest, the first in a series of mini-festivals, gathered food lovers, celebrity chefs, and influential local vendors in an interactive event designed to showcase the power of food in uniting communities.

The event featured exciting cooking demonstrations, where chefs and food enthusiasts unveiled innovative recipes using locally sourced ingredients. Participants from key areas around Dar es Salaam, including Manzese, Mawasiliano Stand, Kimara Mwisho, Malamba Mawili, and Kibamba, competed in a traditional food preparation contest. Local vendors battled it out, presenting a fusion of old and new culinary styles, while winners were awarded for their culinary excellence, reinforcing the cultural pride attached to Tanzanian food.

Following the success of the Manzese/Bakhresa event, the Kitaa Food Fest will continue its journey across Dar es Salaam, with Kinondoni residents next in line to experience the fun. Local vendors from Mwinjuma CCM, Msasani, Tegeta Nyuki, Boko, and Goba will compete to showcase their culinary skills, with the top performers advancing to the Kawe Kitaa Fest next Saturday. Each stop along the way will highlight the uniqueness of Tanzanian cuisine, all paired with the refreshing taste of Coca-Cola beverages.

The initiative is part of a larger nationwide campaign, with mini-festivals planned for key cities like Mwanza, Arusha/Moshi, Mbeya, Morogoro, and Dodoma, as well as various universities. The goal is to not only celebrate local food culture but also to reinforce Coca-Cola’s role as a beverage that complements any meal, creating memorable shared moments.
