Dar es Salaam. A multitude of Kimara-Mbezi commuters were on Monday morning, October 30, stuck at Kimara Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) terminal due to a shortage of rapid buses.
This paper witnessed a big crowd of travellers waiting for the rapid buses, while others using other means of transport.
One resident, Mr Aidan Kitope, told The Citizen that he had waited at the BRT terminal for more than one hour without success. He further said: “Most of the buses that came were too packed to take more people.”
However, Yasini Abdala, said some of the travellers decided to hire tricycles (Bajajis) and motorcycles to their offices. On the other hand, Bajaj and bodaboda riders used the rapid bus shortage to increase fares from Sh1,000 to Sh3,000 per passenger just from Kimara to Ubungo terminal.
