Dar es Salaam. The conjoined twins Maria and Consolata have been discharged from Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) and transferred to Iringa Regional Hospital after their condition had improved.
This was confirmed by the MNH Executive Director Prof Lawrence Museru on Thursday, when he spoke to reporters.
“We have discharged them today after the doctors were satisfied with their recovery,” he said.
He further revealed that the twins have been provided with special machine (Continuous positive airway pressure) to help them on emergency.
The twins, who are the first year students at Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) were initially admitted at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) in MNH for heart specialized treatment.
Speaking to The Citizen on a different occasion on Thursday, Consolata thanked doctors in MNH for efforts to save their lives since they were brought at the national hospital from Iringa Regional hospital early in March.
For her part, Maria also thanked the doctors at MNH, citing that her condition was improved after receiving the treatment.
