Dart suspend commuter services to Kivukoni and Gerezani

Braving the Elements: Dar es Salaam residents navigate through the Jangwani section of the Morogoro Road. Dart has temporarily halted BRT bus services to the city center amidst torrential rains.

Dar es Salaam. The Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Agency (Dart) has temporarily suspended commuter transport services to the Kivukoni and Gerezani termini in the city centre due to floods.

With the section of the Morogoro road passing through the flood-prone Jangwani area closed due to the ongoing rains, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles are, therefore, unable to access the city centre.

“Dart wishes to inform users of the BRT commuter transport system that services have been temporarily suspended after the Jangwani area was sealed off due to floods,” a statement released in the morning of April 23, 2024, by Dart’s Communications and Public Relations Department reads in part.

The statement further says BRT buses normally plying the Kimara - Kivukoni and Kimara - Gerezani routes will terminate at Magomeni Mapipa, while the city centre will be served by BRT buses plying the Muhimbili-Gerezani/Kivukoni routes.

Furthermore, BRT bus services will continue to be provided on the Morocco-Kimara route.

Also, BRT bus services on the feeder routes from Kimara to Mbezi, Kimara to Kibaha, and Kimara to Mloganzila will continue as usual, according to the Dart statement.

“Dart will continue to update commuters through their various social media platforms on Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram.
