Kigoma. Kibondo District Council chairmn in Kigoma Region, Simon Kanguye, has allegedly gone missing in suspicious circumstances since July 20, 2017.

It is reported that a six-man gang allegedly kidnapped him from his house and disappeared with him to an unknown destination.

Reports about the incident are said to have been reported at Kibondo Police Station on July 24, 2017 by the victim’s younger brother, Osward Kanguye, wgho told the law enforcers that his brother had not been seen since July 20, 2017.

On that day the chairman was scheduled to receive CCM’s Youth Wing (UVCCM) National Deputy Secretary in the district.

The Kigoma Regional Police Commander, Ferdinand Mtui, confirmed the report, saying they questioned a member of CCM’s Women’s Wing (UWT) in Kibondo District, Ziada Nestory, and a member of UVCCM in the district, Yohana Karubandike in connection with the disappearance.

The RPC said both Ziada and Yohana admitted being together with the chairman during the morning before he was taken by the Kibondo District Council Director, Juma Mnwele.

However, in his statement at a police station, Mnwele explained that on the material day he arrived at Kibondo district’s CCM office at 8:45am and talked with the chairman over his request (Kanguye) of being provided with transport to receive the UVCCM national leader, who arrived that day.

Mr Mnwele stated that he asked the chairman to accompany him to the district council office for signing the names of staff, who did not receive their salaries for the month of June, 2017 since it was the last day of presenting the names to Tamisemi.

According to the RPC, Mnwele also stated that after arriving at the council office, he had to follow the chairman in his office, whereby after signing the documents, he (Mnwele) returned to his office.

After a short while, the director stated, he saw the chairman Kanguye, through the window, in the company of five other people, whom he could not recognise, walking towards the CRDB Bank building in Kibondo town.

RPC Mtui said the director also gave a statement that after a few hours had gone by he heard a rumor in the streets that Kanguye had been abducted and that the people he had seen were the ones suspected of kidnapping him.
