Dar es Salaam. The National Executive Committee (Nec) of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has endorsed the name of Dr Bashiru Ally Kakurwa to fill the vacant position of the party Secretary General.
The party’s publicity and ideology secretary, Mr Humphrey Polepole, said in a statement on Tuesday that Dr Ally was endorsed to fill the position that was left vacant when Mr Abdulrahman Kinana resigned on Monday.
Dr Ally, a University of Dar es Salaam political scientist, was appointed by the CCM chairman, President John Magufuli in December last year to lead a committee that traced the ruling party’s assets and liabilities.
Mr Polepole said in the statement that the ruling party’s Nec also endorsed Mr Raymond Mangwala as the Secretary General for CCM’s youth wing (UVCCM) while Ms Queen Mlozi has been appointed the Secretary General for the ruling party’s women wing (UWT).
Mr Erasto Sima will be the Secretary General for CCM’s Parents’ wing.
The report – compiled by Dr Ally’s committee that traced the ruling party’s assets and liabilities - found that there were some irregularities and corruption in some of the contracts that CCM had entered into with investors.
