Drug seller uses false leg to hide cocaine

Dar es Salaam. The police in the city are holding a man living with disability for using his artificial limb (prosthetic limb) to conceal drugs he was selling.
According to Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone Commander Suleiman Kova, the suspect, Said Tindwa, 36, who is a resident of Vijibweni in Temeke District was arrested in the area after the police got a tip off from law-abiding citizens.
“The suspect used his artificial leg to conceal his illegal merchandise as he limped from one place to another, selling the drugs for Sh1,000 per packet,” said Mr Kova.
He said the police set a trap and caught the man in possession of heroin and cocaine stashed in his artificial leg. He noted that preliminary investigations showed the man has been dealing in drugs applying the same dodge for a long time.
He said the suspect would appear in court once investigations are completed.
The regional police boss warned other people with disabilities to refrain from criminal activities for that tarnishes the good image and sympathy that disabled people normaly command.
In another incident, three women were arrested after being found with elephant tusks worth Sh49 million.
Kova identified the suspects as Wemael Mshana, Upendo Mshana and Stella Daniel, all of them residents of Mbagala Mtoni in Dar es Salaam.
He said the preliminary interrogation showed that the main suspect, Ms Wemael Mshana, had been colluding with the two others who are said to be students of the Genesis College at Mtoni Kwa Azizi Ali in the city.
He said the woman and her accomplices would soon appear in court to answer charges of poaching and that the police in collaboration with the Wildlife Department are cooperating to make sure this crime eliminated.
