Dar es Salaam. An environmentalist has set a new world record for most trees planted in 24 hours after he planted 25,650 trees, surpassing the previous record of 23,060.

The Co-founder of Trees Club, Jimi Cohen, carried out the tree-planting in collaboration with local volunteers and community members.

He said: The tree-planting initiative is an important step towards addressing the environmental challenges that we face today. Trees are the lungs of our planet, and we need to plant as many as we can to help combat climate change and protect our natural ecosystems," he said.

The planting event was a gruelling 24-hour effort in which Cohen and his support team worked tirelessly to plant as many trees as possible. Despite the challenges, Cohen was able to surpass the previous record and plant an impressive 25,650 trees.

According to him, this is an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

"I want to express my gratitude to our sponsors, Carbon Market Exchange and Make it Wild, for their support and commitment to reforestation efforts."

The 25,650 trees planted during the event will help sequester over 7,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide over their lifetime and provide critical habitat for a variety of wildlife species.

He urged other stakeholders interested in supporting the reforestation initiative to join hands. There are a number of ways that you can get involved.

"You can adopt various initiatives, volunteer for local planting events, and even start your own tree-planting initiative in your community."
