Fire razes a house in Unguja early Friday

What you need to know:

Zanzibar Rescue Unit (ZRU) deputy commissioner Gora Haji Gora said the incident occurred on Friday, August 24, at around 7:10am.

Zanzibar. Fire believed to have been caused by an electrical fault has razed a house located at Mwembeshauri in the Mjini Magharibi Region in Unguja.

Zanzibar Rescue Unit (ZRU) deputy commissioner Gora Haji Gora said the incident occurred on Friday, August 24, at around 7:10am.

Speaking to The Citizen, Mr Gora said the cause of the incident was an electrical fault that occurred when owner Abdulrajab Mgeni, 34, was boiling water using a heater.

“The heater he used in boiling water could have been the cause. Mr Gora, who was alone in the house, escaped unhurt, but property worth millions of shillings was destroyed,” he said.
