Government: We’ll register farmers soon

Agriculture Deputy Minister Innocent Bashungwa

The government on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 said it would in six months complete the registration of producers of various crops, including spices.

The exercise was meant to help the farmers with the view of boosting production and productivity

Dodoma. The government yesterday said it would in six months complete the registration of farmers of various crops.  Speaking in Parliament, Agriculture deputy minister Innocent Bashungwa said the aim was to identimr, bashungwa,fy the number of farmers and where they are located in order to support them.

Mr Bashungwa was responding to a question asked by Ziwani lawmaker Nassor Omar (CUF) who sought to know the government’s strategies in supporting spices production. (The Citizen Reporter)

We have been taking several steps to boost production of spices. The government in cooperation with private sector has prepared Spice Sub Sector Strategy which targets to increase production and productivity,” noted Mr Bashungwa.

“We are committed towards helping farmers in terms of markets and capacity building.”
