Dar es Salaam. Ms Mkinga Habibu, 63, lost her front teeth when she was assaulted 38 years ago.
Despite her old age, she has not given up on her quest to look good. Now, she wants dentures to replace what she lost.
Dentures, also known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices that can replace missing teeth.
But, where does Habibu want to get the dentures? That’s what this story is all about.
On Friday, October 5, she woke up early in the morning to try her luck.
She went to Magunia grounds, in Tandale suburb, Dar es Salaam, where popular artiste, Mr Abdul Naseeb, a.k.a Diamond Platinumz, is celebrating his birthday party.
And, this is where Habibu went to make her request.
"I arrived here [at the grounds] since morning, I carried some food with me for lunch. I hope he [Diamond] will help me,” told The Citizen.
The celebrity, Diamond Platinumz, is celebrating his birthday in a style at Tandale, where he grew up.
He has been showering gifts on people in this suburb as part of the celebrations and giving charity to those in need.
Hundreds of residents have flocked the Magunia grounds for merriments and fun with the artiste.
But Habibu wants nothing more than dentures, and she believes the popular musician can help her.
“I went to Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) and I was told that they cost Sh200, 000,” she says.
So, what she wants is money to go and buy dentures. She tells The Citizen that she was attacked and injured by assailants at her home in 1980.
For the past 10 years, she has not got suitable dentures.
‘There was a time when I got dentures but they became incompatible. Now I want those that can fit me,’’ she says.
Entertainment
Popular Tanzanian rapper Rashid Makwiro alias Chid Benz appeared on the stage and entertained thousands of Dar es Salaam residents who attended the event.
Addressing the crowd, he urged illicit drug users and traders to refrain from the illicit. He said it badly affects the community.
“It is difficult to leave drugs when you are addicted. I thank Nasibu Abdul alias Diamond Platinum’z management under Hamis Shaaban aka Tabu Taletale for heloing me out,” he said amid a cheering crowd.
At the event, music events and promotion legendary, Juma Mbizo said respect, humility, and commitment was the secret behind Diamond Platnum’z success.
“We are the ones who branded him through a performance we organized at the Dar Live. We negotiated for the payment, but he pressed for a complementary to take him to the ground in a helicopter; something was a sense of self-esteem most Tanzanian musicians are lacking,” he said.
