Heavy rainfall alert issued for six regions following overnight downpour in Dar

Following heavy rainfall in various parts of Dar es Salaam that caused disruption for residents, the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has today, 14 April 2025, issued a warning of intense rainfall expected over the next two days in six regions across the country.
The announcement comes after a significant downpour during the night leading into Monday, 14 April 2025, which resulted in flooding of residential areas in Dar es Salaam.
Many residents also experienced travel difficulties due to traffic congestion caused by the rain.
According to TMA’s statement, the warning covers a 48-hour period from today through tomorrow, affecting the regions of Tanga, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, Lindi, Mtwara, as well as the islands of Mafia, Unguja, and Pemba.
For Tuesday, 15 April 2025, TMA has further extended the heavy rainfall alert to include the regions of Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Coast (including Mafia Island), Morogoro, Lindi, Mtwara, and the islands of Unguja and Pemba.
