Here’s how the Ubungo flyover will disrupt your Udart commute

Dar es Salaam. If you take one of Udart’s rapid buses from Ubungo Maji to Kivukoni or Gerezani, brace yourself for a new schedule from early next wee which will likely disrupt your commute.
That is because Udart will have to switch pick up points during morning hours from July 30 to avoid disrupting roadworks at the Ubungo intersection, according to spokesperson Deus Bugaywa.
Preparatory work for the construction of a flyover at the intersection of Morogoro, Mandela and Sam Nujoma highways is expected to choke up an express laneway on Morogoro Road, effectively forcing buses onto a single lane during rush hour.
To bypass the lane closure, “morning express services will (effectively) start at Ubungo Bus Terminal instead of Ubungo Maji,” said Mr Bugaywa early Thursday (July 26).
However, those heading out later in the day shouldn’t face any issues, he said. Normal service will be restored after the AM rush, with buses filtering through dual lanes – as usual.
Udart has a fleep of 140 buses providing express commuter services in Dar es Salaam.
