Speaking in an exclusive interview last weekend, the Mwanza regional Manager, Elinsa Nyange said the tax collectors brought in Sh62.59 billion between July to December last year, against the targeted collection of Sh61.11 billion for the period.

“This increase was almost more than two per cent of the targets set for the period,” boosted Nyange

However, the manager said despite the success, TRA still faces several challenges, including failure to collect government’s revenue and income from some unscrupulous businessmen.

He said his office is planning to use its voter’s public education unit to sensitise public need to pay taxes, demanding official receipts for all purchases and services.
