Dodoma. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that tomorrow, Wednesday August 27, will mark nomination day for all candidates seeking to contest in the 2025 General Election.

The exercise will see the official nomination of candidates for the presidency, vice presidency, parliamentary seats, and councillorship positions across Mainland Tanzania.

According to INEC, the submission and scrutiny of nomination forms for presidential and vice-presidential candidates will take place at the Commission’s headquarters in Njedengwa, Dodoma, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Parliamentary and councillor candidates will undergo the same process at constituency and ward levels, overseen by election supervisors and their assistants nationwide.

“All preparations for the nomination of candidates for the positions of President and Vice President, Members of Parliament, and Councillors have been completed,” said INEC Director of Elections, R K Kailima, in a statement issued Tuesday.

The Commission has urged all aspirants who collected forms earlier this month to present them at the designated offices on time to ensure a smooth process.

Once the exercise is complete at 4:00 p.m., the names of presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be displayed on notice boards outside INEC offices in Dodoma for public inspection. Similarly, the names of parliamentary and councillor candidates will be posted at the respective constituency and ward election offices.

INEC has further reminded political parties and aspirants to strictly adhere to the submission guidelines previously communicated to them.

Tomorrow’s nomination day marks a decisive step in the run-up to the 2025 polls, paving the way for official campaigns to begin once the list of cleared candidates is made public.
