Mr Karume also congratulated Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi on his recent appointment, recalling his years as a young, energetic cadre who has steadily risen through the ranks to become one of CCM’s key leaders
Dar es Salaam. Former Zanzibar President and retired CCM Vice-Chairman Amani Abeid Karume has lauded Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) for its enduring strength and continued trust among Tanzanians.
Mr Karume made the remarks on Thursday during the launch of CCM’s campaign in Kawe, Dar es Salaam, ahead of the October 29 general election.
He said the ruling party has maintained public confidence through its development initiatives and the leadership foundations laid by its past leaders.
“I am grateful for the faith you have placed in our party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi. On my way here, I recalled the days when we held such gatherings in Jang’ombe. Today, I have witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, including roads. This is the fruit of our party,” he said.
He noted that the size of the venue and the large turnout were proof that CCM continues to appeal across generations, calling it a clear sign that the party remains strong and relevant.
Echoing sentiments previously expressed by former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Mr Karume stressed the importance of safeguarding unity and cohesion within CCM’s leadership structures.
“This is the victory of our party. I am pleased with the progress I have seen, and proud that our party has remained firm. The foundations established in the past continue to guide us today,” he said.
“We have known him since he was a young man. He was hardworking and capable, and to this day he remains a leader of example. His appointment is well deserved,” said Mr Karume.
He urged party members to uphold CCM’s values and continue supporting the younger generation of leaders who, he said, are carrying forward the vision of the party’s founding fathers.
