Latvia national arrested at JNIA in possession of heroin

Dar es Salaam. Police at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) have arrested a Latvia national, Linda Mazure,22, after she was found in possession of 5.091 kilos of heroin, which she was trafficking to Poland.
Tanzania Airports Police Commander Jeremiah Shila said the suspect was arrested on April 17, 2019 at around 1500Hrs at JNIA. The drugs were hidden in two travelling bags.
According to Shila, the suspected was arrested at as she prepared to take a flight to Poland on a Qatar Airways plane via Doha.
He said Linda was holding passport No:LV5893769 which was issued on April 6, 2018.
“The police, in cooperation with security officers at JNIA, arrested Linda at the Terminal II inspection area after she was searched found in possession of heroin hidden in two bags” said the police officer.
Shila said that Ms Mazure was still being held by the police at JNIA Police Station for further investigations and that she would be taken to court soon after investigations are completed.
He also warned people involved in drug cartels, government trophies, mineral smuggling and any kind of crime by using airports to stop doing so or else face tough legal actions.
