“I have heard of that my representative in Monduli has resigned. That is his constitutional right, regardless of the motive behind this move,” said Mr Lowassa in a statement issued on July 31, 2018.
Mr Lowassa has also served as Monduli MP through CCM and Prime Minister from 2005 to 2008. He said, “I know that people in Monduli, myself included, have been saddened and hurt by the news. But I ask that you do not lose heart. His decision should give us more strength and zeal in fighting for democracy and real change,” he said.
Mr Lowassa went on to say, “ There is nothing new here. It is very normal for political figures to move parties and hand over the batten to others.”
“The fire that we started in 2015 cannot be quenched by these tactics. Many will follow Kalinga, but the fire burning in the hearts of the people will keep burning,” he said.
