Masauni wants South Pemba RPC removed over claims of incompetence

Home Affairs Deputy Minister Hamad Masauni
Pemba. Home Affairs Deputy Minister Hamad Masauni has ordered the removal of South Pemba Regional Police Commander Sheikhan Mohamed Sheikhan accusing him of failing to supervise the construction of 14 houses for police officers.
He has also instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Simon Sirro, to visit the site and issue the directives that will see the project being completed.
Mr Masauni issued the instructions on Friday, July 27, after he visited the project in Chakechake District. The project was launched by Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan on March 20, this year.
He said the failure to supervise the project was proof of incompetence and that the project was scheduled to be completed in time provided there was good supervision.
“I want the IGP to come here in two weeks and issue the directives on how the project will be undertaken. We shall not accept any kind of excuse,” he said.
For his part, Mr Sheikhan said his failure was due to lack of cooperation from other actors including regional commissioners from North and South Pemba.
But, the two regional commissioners told the deputy minister that they have never refused to offer the RPC whatever support he needed regarding implementation of the project.
Pemba South Regional Commissioner Hemed Suleiman Abdalla said he was ready to assist the RPC on whatever he needed to have the project accomplished on time.
