Mbinga Town Council receives Sh12bn for development projects in 3yrs

Mbinga. The government has disbursed Sh11.94 billion to Mbinga Town Council for development projects during the past three years, it was revealed here recently.

The money disbursed during the past three years of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s presidency was injected into education, health, community development, agriculture, livestock, administration, and trade sectors, according to the director of Mbinga Town Council, Ms Amina Seif.

Ms Amina was speaking in Songea Municipal Council during a meeting that brought together all councils and municipal directors for the Ruvuma region.

The meeting sought to deliberate on the achievements attained during the almost three years of President Hassan’s administration. President Hassan ascended to power on March 19, 2021.

“We thank the government for this... Walking the talk on various development projects is the testimony of the government’s commitment to bringing services closer to its people,” she said.

The breakdowns of the money show that during the 2021/2022 financial year, Mbinga Town Council received a total of Sh5.6 billion.

 It received Sh5.4 billion during the 2022/23 financial year, while another Sh0.974 billion was disbursed during the first half of the 2023/24 financial year.

Out of the money, Sh7.8 billion went to the education sector and was spent on building 182 classrooms and four new schools, among others.

The health sector got Sh2 billion, which went into the construction of two health centres and nine dispensaries.
