He likens his loss in the CCM presidential nomination race to a sudden death goal in the game of football
Dar es Salaam. Foreign Affairs minister Bernard Membe yesterday said, the results of his party’s presidential nomination process were unpredictable and that it could only be described as something that happened like a “sudden death.”
However, the outgoing Mtama MP said, he was aware that there must be a winner in any competition and that he received and accepted the results. He was speaking at a three-day Second Diaspora Investment Conference (SDIC) in the city.
“The process to get the party’s flag-bearer to me was like a sudden death,” said Mr Membe.
He said, in football game, a good team could manage to perform better in the first half and fail to make it in the second.
“It happens that the best football team performs well in the first half, when it draws in for the second half, sometimes it can be forced to go into penalties, it is at this stage where best teams lose against others,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Membe asked the Diaspora to always think about Tanzania and participate in various development projects for their country.
“The country has so many opportunities and there are many investors like Huawei Tanzania who are here for the past 15 years and have been supporting the country’s development. I would like to use this opportunity to urge my fellow Tanzanians to come back home and share their experiences and expertise in developing our nation,” he said. He asked the skilled Tanzanians to bring home not only a superb range of international expertise, global relationships and local knowledge, but a strong sense of purpose and willingness to give back too.
