Mhagama commends USAID’s initiatives in Southern Zone projects

Dr Denis Mzaga, Director of Strategic Information for USAID Afya Yangu Southern briefs Health Minister Jenista Mhagama on the operations of the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects when the Minister visited the projects pavilion during the climax of World Aids Day in Songea Municipal, Ruvuma Region on Sunday.

Songea. Health Minister Jenista Mhagama has commended the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects under Deloitte Consulting Limited for the efforts and commitment the projects are doing in fight against HIV and especially for the modern technology of using Biometric Fingerprints in service delivery.

Ms Mhagama commended the projects when she visited their pavilion during the climax of World Aids Day which were held in Songea Municipal, Ruvuma Region.

After getting technical operations of the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects from Dr Denis Mzaga, director of strategic information for USAID Afya Yangu Southern, the Minister called for collaboration and partnership from all the stakeholders and the government in fight against eradicating HIV in the country.

During the celebrations of the World Aids Day which were done one week before the climax, the USAID Afya Yangu (My Health) Southern and USAID Kizazi Hodari (Brave Generation) Southern Zone projects offered various services which included testing services as well as connecting those who reveal HIV infections to treatment and care clinics (CTC), continuous treatment services such as  antiretroviral drugs, collaborative tuberculosis services, testing of cervical cancer, family planning services as well as referrals for services for victims of various types of violence.

Other services where offering educational services for behavioral change to the community with the aim of increasing the ability of the community to come to health centers and request services, as well as  increasing the ability of the community to identify those in need of services and motivate them to join/go to get the relevant service
