Dar es Salaam. The body of Daisle Simon Ulomi, a businessman who had been missing since December 11, 2024, has been discovered at Mwananyamala Referral Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
Ulomi, who ran a mobile money business in the Sinza Kijiweni and Mwenge areas of the city, disappeared under unclear circumstances on that day. Efforts to contact Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Jumanne Muliro for further information have so far been unsuccessful, as calls to his phone have gone unanswered.
Speaking to the sister newspaper Mwananchi on Monday, December 16, 2024, Ulomi’s father-in-law, Japhet Munisi, said he was informed about the discovery earlier in the morning by Ulomi’s wife. "She called to inform me that news had reached her that her husband’s body was at Mwananyamala Hospital,” he stated.
Munisi said he went to the hospital and found police officers stationed at the mortuary. “I asked the staff there for information, but they refused to disclose anything.
When I turned to the officers present, they told me that investigations were ongoing, and they would release a statement once the process was complete,” he explained.
Munisi added that the family is now gathering in Mikocheni to make funeral arrangements.
Reports circulating on social media indicate that on December 11, Ulomi left Sinza Kijiweni at around 12:00 p.m., informing colleagues that he was heading to Mbangala inland container depot to inspect his container.
He reportedly said he had been contacted by individuals claiming to be processing its clearance from the port.
It is said that Ulomi left his office on a motorcycle, which he was riding himself. He was not seen or heard from again until his body was found, confirming his death.
Authorities are yet to issue a formal statement regarding the circumstances of his death as investigations continue.
