More former CUF branches rebranded with ACT-Wazalendo colours

Pemba. More former Civic United Front (CUF) offices were rebranded to ACT Wazalendo colours, with Micheweni district joining the bandwagon today, March 19, 2019.
On Monday, March 18, the rebranding in parts of Unguja and Chakechake in Pemba, started immediately it emerged that the High Court in Dar es Salaam pronounced Prof Ibrahim Lipumba as the bona fide CUF chairman. Prof Lipumba and secretary general, Mr Seif Sharif Hamad have been tussling for control of the party.
“We are rebranding the offices as directed by higher authorities,” CUF secretary for Chakechake, Mr Saleh Nassor Juma, told The Citizen on Monday.
Some youth could be seen removing furniture from some of the offices. Others lowered party flags and burnt them while chanting ACT-Wazalendo slogans.
He said Mr Hamad, ex-CUF secretary general, has the backing of the many people who will follow him to his new base.
Mr Hamad today officially received ACT-Wazalendo membership card from the party’s leader Zitto Kabwe.
In Michewani district, Rashid Khalid Salim was leading the re-branding exercise.
“What we are doing is rebranding the offices and pulling down CUF flags as we raise those of ACT-Wazalendo. We will then shift to opening more new branches of our new party across the Isles,” he told The Citizen.
The former member of the Zanzibar House of Representatives for Michewani on the CUF ticket, Mr Thubeit Khamis Faki, said they do not have more time to waste.
“We have decided to proceed as you can see,” he said.
On why they were rebranding the offices that belonged to CUF, he said most of them were personal properties donated to the party in support of Mr Hamad.
