What you need to know:

MP Nape Nnauye (Mtama-CCM) posted a photo of himself, walking alongside Mr Kinana and Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office for Union Affairs and Environment January Makamba, dressed in green attire.

Dar es Salaam. At the height of a memorable day in Tanzanian politics, as the Secretary General of Tanzania's ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Mr Abdulrahman Kinana has resigned, two parliamentarians and CCM members got a little emotional on Twitter.

MP Nape Nnauye (Mtama-CCM) posted a photo of himself, walking alongside Mr Kinana and Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office for Union Affairs and Environment January Makamba, dressed in green attire.

The President and CCM Chairman Mr Magufuli is also seen in the photograph, but at a distance.
On his Twitter post, that sounded poetic in Swahili, Mr Nnauye said, “Rest oh true friend. Rest, you are guardian and father whom none can compare with. Rest, you are a leader. Rest, comrade. You are a teacher who changed our perspective on politics and public service. We will cherish you forever. Kinana! You have planted a seed, and it will grow!”

That was at 5:52p.m. At 8:50p.m. Mr Makamba posted the same photo that Nnauye had shared three hours ago. Mr Makamba said in his tweet: “Not retired, but redeployed - to serve the country without the inconvenience of a political position. Thanks for immense lessons.” He went on to post other photos of Kinana in Makamba's office in what seems to be meetings held during the 2015 General.

A poster of Mr Magufuli in a green shirt, with “Choose Magufuli” inscribed on it, can be seen in one of the photos shared by Mr Makamba. “Sometimes, he would stay with us up to 4a.m.,” Mr Makamba said of Kinana.
Mr Kinana's resignation has become public on Monday, during the National Electoral Committee (NEC) meeting, where six Central Committee (CC) members were elected.

Mr Kinana has been Secretary-General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, the ruling party since 2012.
