Necta releases 2023 Form Four results

Dar es Salaam. The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (Necta) has released the 2023 Form Four national examination results, which were administered in November and December 2023.

Necta's executive secretary, Dr Said Mohamed said a total of 484,823, equivalent to 87.65 percent of those who sat the exams, have passed. Girls who passed were 257,892 (86.17 percent), while boys who passed the exam were 226,931 (89.40 percent).

The results announced on Thursday, January 25, 2024, by Dr Mohamed, show the pass rate has risen by 1.57 percent for school candidates, with an increase of 14,452 candidates (3.16 percent) who passed compared to the previous year, 2022.

Among the 471,427 candidates who passed, girls are 250,147 (88.11 percent) and boys are 221,280 (90.81 percent). Thus, boys have performed better than girls.

Dr Mohamed said a total of 484,823, equivalent to 87.65 percent of those who sat the exams, have passed. Girls who passed were 257,892 (86.17 percent), while boys who passed the exam were 226,931 (89.40 percent).

In 2022, candidates who passed the exam were 476,450, equivalent to 86.78 percent. As such, he said, the pass rate of candidates has also increased by 0.87 percent as compared to 2022.

On the other hand, 13,396 private candidates have passed the exam, which is 52.44 percent. In 2022, Necta said 19,475 private candidates (68.34 percent) passed. "Therefore, the pass rate by private candidates has dropped by 15.90 percent compared to 2022."

In 2023, a total of 572,359 candidates were registered to conduct the Form Four national examination; girls were 310,248 (54.21 percent) and boys were 262,111 (45.79 percent). School candidates were 543,332 and private candidates were 29,027.
