Singida. Airtel Tanzania has taken a significant step towards advancing sports and community development with the official launch of Airtel Stadium in the Singida region.

The new facility is expected to enhance football infrastructure, nurture young talent, and spur local economic growth.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Deputy Minister of Information, Arts, Culture, and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, who lauded Airtel Tanzania and other stakeholders for their contribution to the project.

“I would like to thank Airtel and all other stakeholders who contributed to making this stadium a reality. To the people of Singida, this stadium belongs to you. It is your responsibility to maintain it and ensure it remains in excellent condition,” he emphasized.

Director of Information Technology at Airtel Tanzania, Franky Filman, reiterated the company's commitment to fostering sports and youth empowerment.

“Airtel’s significant contribution to this stadium underscores our dedication to developing football and creating opportunities for young people in sports and entertainment,” said Filman.

He further highlighted the stadium’s potential to host a variety of sporting events, thus stimulating local businesses and creating job opportunities.

“Beyond football, this stadium will host various sporting events, stimulate economic activity, and ensure long-term sustainability. Sports have always been a unifying force, bringing people together across different backgrounds. This facility will not only provide an arena for exciting matches but also create job opportunities, including for Airtel Money agents and product vendors who will serve fans before, during, and after games,” he noted.

Adding to the occasion, Makete MP, Festo Sanga, acknowledged the collective effort behind the stadium’s development and called on additional sponsors to further invest in sports infrastructure in the region.

The launch was celebrated with a friendly football match between Singida Black Stars and Yanga SC. However, the game, which was tied at 1–1, had to be halted midway through the second half due to heavy rainfall.
