NMB’s Wajibu Account offers three options for parents to in their (the parents’) pursuit to keep money for their children’s future requirements.
These are Watoto Account which allows parents to save for the future of their kids who are aged between 0 to 12 years; Chipukizi Account which is specifically designed for children aged between 13 and 17 years as well as Mwanachuo Account which targets those in tertiary schooling levels.
Launching a special awareness campaign for NMB’s Mtoto and Chipukizi accounts yesterday, the Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, the Aged and Children, Ms Ummy Mwalimu said the accounts make a lot of sense to children and thus the need to connect them to NHIF’s Toto Afya Card.
Responding to Ms Mwalimu’s view, NMB’s acting senior manager for retail liabilities and insurance services Mr Stephen Adili, said the bank will start implementing the proposal early next year.
The Toto Afya Card is a special product for the NHIF that caters to the health need of children –aged between Zero and 18 years – whereby one is required to pay a premium of only Sh50,400 per year at once.
