People trapped in collapsed Kariako building still alive, authority confirm

Dar es Salaam. The Commissioner General of the Fire and Rescue Force, John Masunga, has confirmed that there are still people trapped under the debris of the collapsed building in Kariakoo, communication with the individuals remains active, and they are in good condition as they continue to receive assistance.

The Commissioner General, said that while providing an update on the ongoing rescue operations following the building collapse in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam, on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

According to Commissioner General Masunga, communication remains active with individuals still trapped under the rubble, and they are reported to be in stable condition.

“Rescue operations have been ongoing continuously since yesterday. There are people trapped below, and we are in contact with them. They are alive, and we have managed to provide them with water, glucose, and emotional support,” he said.

He added: We assured them that all security and rescue teams are here, and we are committed to ensuring their safe rescue. We are relieved to have successfully delivered these essentials while they remain under the debris,” he said.
