Police arrests Msigwa

Dar es Salaam. Police in Iringa have arrested Iringa Urban Member of Parliament Reverent Peter Msigwa as he was addressing a public rally at Mlandege ward on Sunday, September 24.
Chadema Regional youth wing (Bavicha) chairperson Mr Leonce Marto said Mr Msigwa was arrested at around 5.20 PM.
Mr Marto said the police, who were led by Regional Crime Officer (RCO), went to the grounds, where Mr Msigwa was holding a public rally and pulled him from the podium.
“We are currently at the central police station after Mr Msigwa was pulled down from the podium by the police,” said Mr Marto, when he was contacted by this paper yesterday evening.
He added, “After they arrested him the police transferred him to three different cars.”
According to Mr Marto the police had allowed the firebrand politician to hold a public rally. He added that the police didn’t give the reasons behind Mr Msigwa’s arrest.
“As of now we don’t know why the police have arrested Mr Msigwa because they allowed him to hold the rally from 4 PM to 6 PM…he was arrested at around 520 PM,” said Mr Marto.
