Police detain 137 suspects, including traditional healer accused of multiple murders

Singida. The Police Force in Singida Region is currently holding 137 suspects for various offenses, with 21 individuals facing murder charges.

This update was provided by Acting Regional Police Commander of Singida, Mr Raphael Mayunga, during a press briefing on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Mr Mayunga revealed that some suspects have already been brought to court. Among them is traditional healer Kamba Kasubi, who is accused of murdering and burying bodies at his premises in Singida and Dodoma regions.

"Among the suspects in custody, Kamba Kasubi and 13 others are accused of killing three people in Makuro Village, Singida, and seven others in Porobanguma Village, Chemba District, Dodoma," Mayunga said.

He further stated that out of the cases that have reached the courts, approximately 43 defendants have been convicted.

Sentences include the death penalty for five individuals convicted of murder, life imprisonment for three individuals convicted of rape and sodomy, and 30 years in prison for five others convicted of rape.

"43 defendants were convicted following the presentation of conclusive evidence regarding their criminal acts. The sentences include five death penalties for murder, two life sentences for sodomy, one life sentence for rape, and five 30-year prison terms for rape," Mayunga added.

Traditional healer Kamba Kasubi is particularly notable in this case, suspected of murdering and burying ten people across the villages of Makuro and Porobanguma in Singida and Dodoma regions. Police investigations have uncovered disturbing evidence in Sawekwa, a settlement within Porobanguma, where six graves have been discovered.

The victims identified include Seni Jishabi (28), Mohames Juma (27), Daudi Msanku (27), and Ramadhan Yusuph (26).

The tragic list also includes Mwekwa Kasubu, a four-month-old infant, and Maka Shaban, the child of Selemani Nyalandu, a suspect allegedly linked to Kasubi.
