President Magufuli appoints Dr Slaa new ambassador

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has appointed former Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) Secretary General Dr Wilbroad Slaa a new ambassador.

A statement released to the media by Director of Presidential Communication Mr Gerson Msigwa, said Dr Slaa will be sworn in after completion of procedures.

“The president has today November 23 appointed Dr Wilbrod Peter Slaa a new ambassador,” read part of the statement.

Dr Slaa, who served as Karatu Member of Parliament through Chadema from 1995 to 2000, unsuccessfully run for the presidency in 2010.

He quit his position as Secretary General of Chadema, the main opposition party, in 2015 in protest of the party’s decision to endorse former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa as its presidential flag bearer.

Since then, he has been in Canada where he has been reportedly working at a super market.
