Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan will today lead mourners in paying their last respects to Tanzania’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bernard Membe, who died on May 12, 2023, after developing chest complications.

The farewell ceremony is taking place at the Karimjee grounds, where various previous and current national government and political leaders, as well as international diplomats, have gathered to pay their final respects to Tanzania’s renowned diplomat.

Membe’s body will be transported tomorrow to Lindi region, where he will be buried in Londo village on May 16, 2023.

Membe also served as a Member of Parliament for Mtama constituency from 2000 to 2015 and contested to become president in the 2020 General Elections under the Alliance for Change (ACT-Wazalendo) party.
