President Samia makes key leadership changes across the country

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a series of significant leadership appointments, transfers, and changes across various sectors of the government.
The shifts, which affect District Commissioners, District executive secretaries, District Council Executive Directors, and a board position, were announced on Friday, January 24, by the Chief Secretary, Amb Dr Moses Kusiluka.
In a broad reshuffle, the President appointed new District Commissioners, while also making changes to positions within local government administration.
These adjustments are aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring that key positions are filled with capable leadership.
District commissioners
Among the notable appointments, Mr Godfrey Eliakimu Mnzava, previously the Ilemela District Officer, has been appointed as the District Commissioner of Moshi, replacing Mr. James Wilbert Kaji, who now takes on the role of Director-General of the National Identification Authority (NIDA).
Other key appointments in the District Commissioner roles include Mr. Michael John Semindu, who moves from his position as Iringa District Executive Secretary to lead Mbulu District, and Mr. Khamana Juma Simba, who has been transferred from Arusha to become the District Commissioner of Ulanga, filling the position vacated by Dr. Julius Keneth Ningu, who has retired.
A number of other districts also saw leadership changes, including the transfer of Mr. Joseph Josephat Mkude from Kishapu District to Arusha, where he will take over from Mr. Felician Gasper Mtahengera, whose appointment has been revoked.
District executive secretaries appointed:
Several new District Executive Secretaries have also been appointed. Among these, Mr Jacob Julius Rombo has been transferred from Mbogwe to Arusha, while Mr Benard Dominic Urasa, a senior official in the Office of the President, has been appointed to Iringa.
Ms Happyness John Sulle, previously the Head of the Library and Archives Department at the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) headquarters, will now serve as the District Executive Secretary of Mkalama.
District council executive directors
In addition to the District Commissioners and Executive Secretaries, changes were also made at the District Council level.
Mr. Edwin Lussa Bayona, formerly the Head of the Legal Department at Mwanga District Council, has been appointed the Executive Director of Mbogwe District Council.
Other notable transfers in this category include Ms. Zahara Muhidin Michuzi, who has been moved from Ifakara to become the Executive Director of Meatu District Council, and Mr. Jerry Daimon Mwaga, who has been transferred from Kaliua to Makete District Council.
Additionally, President Samia has appointed Ms. Yokbeth Festo Myumbilwa as the new chairperson of the board of the Geological Survey and Mineral Research Institute of Tanzania (GST), replacing Prof Justinian Rwezaula Ikingura, whose term has ended.
