President Samia mourns Tanesco MD Nyamo-Hanga

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has sent a message of condolence to the Deputy Prime Minister and minister of Energy, Dr Doto Biteko, following the death of Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) MD, Engineer Gassima Nyamo-Hanga and his driver, Muhajir Mohamed Haule.
The two died in a road crash in Bunda District, Mara Region, during the night of April 12, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications at State House, President Samia expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of the Tanesco boss, describing the incident as a great loss to the nation.
She extended her condolences to colleagues, friends and families of the late Engineer Nyamo-Hanga and Mr Haule.
“The President is greatly saddened by the passing of Engineer Nyamo-Hanga and his driver,” the statement reads in part.
President Samia prayed for the eternal rest of the departed and wished strength and comfort to the bereaved families.
“May Almighty God rest the souls of the late Nyamo-Hanga and Haule in eternal peace,” she said.
Until his death, Engineer Nyamo-Hanga was overseeing the national utility's drive to expand access to electricity across Tanzania, including major infrastructure upgrades and rural electrification projects.
Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by government officials in collaboration with the families of the deceased.
