Mbinga. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on Mbinga District Council executives to uphold professionalism, trust, and hard work to enhance governance and service delivery in the area.

Speaking on Wednesday, September 25, during the launch of the new Sh3.55 billion Mbinga District Council administration block at Kiamili Village, Kigonsera Ward, President Samia emphasized the importance of the facility in centralizing services for residents.

“I expect accelerated service delivery, with the quality of services reflecting the standards of this new building,” she said. “Those who arrive with frustrations should leave with smiles after their grievances are addressed.”

She also encouraged residents to invest wisely in agriculture, promoting income-generating projects and savings, noting that government subsidies would not last indefinitely.

Mbinga Rural MP Benaya Kapinga highlighted ongoing challenges, including inadequate access to clean water, insufficient corporate social responsibility from miners, and a shortage of cereal storage facilities.

Agriculture Minister Hussein Bashe addressed these concerns, announcing that the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) had procured over 13,000 tonnes of maize and would introduce maize cleaning machines next year.

He also revealed plans to streamline coffee payments through the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX) and the Central Payment System, ensuring transparency and reducing reliance on Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (Amcos).

Minister of Water Jumaa Aweso said ongoing projects would increase the district's water access from 71 percent to 86.7 percent, while Works Minister Innocent Bashungwa announced a Sh3.5 billion allocation for the Ruanda-Amani Makoro road project.
