Dar es Salaam. Chief Registrar of the Judiciary of Tanzania Eva Kiaki Nkya has called on institutions within the criminal justice system to collaborate in delivering timely justice, emphasising that cooperation is a key pillar of success.
She made these remarks today while closing the National Law Week exhibition.
Ms Nkya expressed her gratitude to all institutions that participated in the event and urged them to maintain their collaboration to enhance efficiency in the delivery of criminal justice.
"I thank all participants and stakeholders who took part. You are the driving force behind the success of Law Week. Together with our stakeholders, the Judiciary has provided legal and rights education at the exhibition stands and reached out to citizens where they are.
This outreach effort has allowed us to connect with a larger number of people, fulfilling the Judiciary's commitment to collaboration with other stakeholders to effectively provide education on accessing justice," she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by George Herbert, the Chairman of the exhibition's organizing committee and Registrar of the Court of Appeal, who highlighted the success of this year's event in reaching more citizens both within and beyond the exhibition stands.
"We had 39 institutions participating, and a total of 3,446 citizens visited the stands to gain knowledge about legal rights and conflict resolution. Many others were reached through media channels," Herbert noted.
Speaking on behalf of all participating institutions, David Elias, the Director of Forensic Services from the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority, emphasised that the exhibition aimed to educate people on justice issues and address citizens' challenges.
"We fully participated in this exhibition, focusing on educating and serving Tanzanians using the infrastructure established by the sixth-phase government under the leadership of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Her vision aligns with the National Development Vision 2050, promoting interconnected systems through technology and ICT," Elias said.
