Rising Woman 2025: It’s time to Accelerate Her Impact

After four remarkable years of The Citizen Rising Woman, we now embark on a new milestone—our fifth anniversary. This journey has been one of transformation, inspiration, and empowerment, illuminating the stories of women who have shattered barriers and paved the way for future generations.

Today is not just about celebrating women; it is also a moment to recognize the unwavering support of men who have championed gender equality, advocating for an inclusive society where women have equal opportunities to thrive and lead.

This year, we proudly introduce the theme “Accelerate Her Impact”—a call to action urging all stakeholders to intensify efforts in empowering women to drive transformative change at an even greater pace.

This theme resonates with the global agenda, aligning with the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide.

Furthermore, it is in harmony with the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 theme, “Accelerate Action,” which underscores the urgency of advancing progress toward gender equality.

At The Citizen, we have been at the forefront of bridging the gender gap, particularly in the corporate world. Through the power of storytelling, we have shattered the glass ceiling, amplifying the voices of women who are excelling in executive leadership, driving innovation, and transforming industries.

As we celebrate this milestone, we are introducing a refined content approach to offer more in-depth and inspiring narratives. This year, we are excited to launch a weekly Rising Woman Magazine, featuring some of Tanzania’s most influential leaders from both the private and public sectors.

Every Monday, we will spotlight five exceptional women who are making a significant impact in their respective fields. This special publication will serve as an extension of our mission—to celebrate women who have risen to the top despite the challenges they have faced.

Additionally, as part of our commitment to fostering dialogue and driving meaningful change, we will once again convene thought leaders—both men and women—on March 7 for the annual Rising Woman Symposium. This high-level gathering will provide a platform to reflect on the strides made in addressing gender disparities while tackling the persistent challenges that require urgent attention.

The Rising Woman Symposium has become a hallmark of our initiative, serving as a pivotal moment to honour women’s excellence and recognize their relentless commitment to overcoming barriers.
