Bukoba. The Registration Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (Rita) has called upon Tanzanians to resolve disputes with their partners.

It noted that Rita would register children using names provided by their mothers.

The agency made the clarification on Friday, September 14, during a seminar to regional officers ahead the registration and provision of certificates to children under five here.

The agency clarified the matter following a concern raised by Bukoba District community officer Vivian Roland who sought to know the fate of children registered using names of other fathers before resurfacing of the real fathers whose names do not appear in the documents.

The agency’s births and deaths registration acting manager, Ms Patricia Mpuya, said usually such disputes are usually resolved using DNA tests.

However, she said women are the one knowing reasons prompting them to provide names of other men during birth registration.

“Sometimes, they do so after deep misunderstandings with their partners,” she said.

Kagera Region is expected to register and provide certificates to children under five years old through health centres and local government offices.

Previously, the job was being implemented by district commissioners’ offices.
