Rosalynn Mndolwa-Mworia appointed MD of Mwananchi Communications Limited

Dar es Salaam. Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Nation Media Group (NMG), has announced the appointment of Rosalynn Mndolwa-Mworia as its new Managing Director, effective April 29, 2025.

The appointment marks a significant step in MCL’s ongoing transformation to become Tanzania’s most trusted and innovative digital-first content platform.

With over 23 years of executive leadership experience spanning telecommunications, logistics, financial services, and insurance, Ms Rosalynn brings a wealth of knowledge and a track record of driving strategic growth.

Ms Rosalynn succeeds Bakari Machumu, who retired in August 2024 after 20 years of service.

Since his departure, the role had been held in an acting capacity by Victor Mushi for the past eight months.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, during a joint meeting between the Board of Nation Media Group (NMG)—MCL’s parent company—and MCL staff.

As Rosalynn assumes the leadership role, Mr Mushi will now transition to the role of Executive Editor, Digital Innovation at Nation Media Group, where he will oversee content and audience engagement strategies across NMG’s operations in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

“Rosalynn’s appointment is a major milestone in MCL’s transformation,” said David Nchimbi, Chairman of the Board at MCL. “Her proven ability to lead strategic initiatives, drive digital innovation, foster a customer-first culture, and deliver sustainable growth positions her perfectly to steer MCL into the future.”

In her new role, Ms Rosalynn will lead MCL’s overall operations and strategic direction, focusing on enhancing digital capabilities, growing existing business lines, and exploring new opportunities in the evolving media and content landscape.

She currently serves on the Board of Assemble Insurance Tanzania, where she chairs the remuneration and compensation committee, and has previously chaired the investment committee.

She has also served on boards of public and non-profit institutions, including the Marine Parks Reserves Unit under the Government of Tanzania and Railway Children Africa, underscoring her commitment to community development and sustainability.

Ms Rosalynn holds an MBA and a BSc in Accounting & Management Information Systems from Wayne State College in the United States. She is also a certified Executive Coach from the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC) and is widely respected for her expertise in strategic leadership and corporate communications.
