Dodoma. Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 became the first contender to submit nomination forms to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
President Hassan arrived at the Commission’s headquarters at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in a modest motorcade, unlike the larger convoy that accompanied her when collecting the forms. The atmosphere was calm, with fewer celebrations compared to her earlier appearance.
This is the second time President Hassan has led the way for other candidates, having also been the first to collect nomination forms.
She alighted from a green vehicle dressed in the party’s signature green attire and was received by the Director of Elections, Ramadhan Kailima.
Preceding her arrival was a three-car convoy that included CCM Secretary General, Dr Asha-Rose Migiro who also travelled in a green vehicle.
After leaving the INEC offices, President Hassan spent a few minutes speaking with Dr Migiro, her running mate Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, CCM Vice Chairman (Mainland) Stephen Wasira and Dodoma regional party leaders led by Chairman Alhaj Adam Kimbisa.
According to the schedule released by INEC earlier today, all 18 political parties whose candidates collected nomination forms are expected to return them for verification. The timetable shows that ACT-Wazalendo’s presidential candidate, Luhaga Mpina, will close the exercise.
