Samia holds talks with Indian billionaire Adani over port operations

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Friday, June 14, engaged in discussions with Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group from India, at Chamwino State House in Dodoma.
The meeting follows Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd's recent announcement of a 30-year concession agreement with the Tanzania Ports Authority to manage and operate Container Terminal 2 (CT2) at Dar es Salaam Port, which has four berths and an annual cargo handling capacity of 1 million TEUs.
Mr Gautam Adani expressed enthusiasm about the encounter, describing it as an honour on social media platform X.
The discussions focused on Adani Group's commitment to leveraging its expertise in ports, renewable energy, airports, transmission, distribution, and rail to bolster Tanzania's infrastructure, aiming to enhance economic growth and sustainability.
Following their meeting, Mr Adani expressed his enthusiasm, describing the encounter as an honour in a post on social media platform X.
"It was an honour to meet the charismatic President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency @SuluhuSamia. Fascinating to hear her deep insights about the future of Africa and discuss the possibilities for forging a long-term partnership with one of Africa's most promising and strategically important nations. We are excited about the Adani Group leveraging its expertise across various infrastructure sectors, including ports, renewable energy, airports, transmission, distribution, and rail to help build world-class infrastructure in Tanzania," Mr Adani said.
Though the State House is yet to release the details of the meeting, the Adani Group said their discussions focused on Adani Group's commitment to utilising its expertise in ports, renewable energy, airports, transmission, distribution, and rail to contribute to Tanzania's development of world-class infrastructure, aiming to strengthen its economic landscape and foster sustainable growth.
The Adani Group aims to expand its presence in Africa through strategic partnerships aligned with local development priorities.
